Frequently Asked Questions

It is a large floating combine that cuts and removes unwanted aquatic plants. Our advanced machines use eco-friendly hydraulic fluid and are powered by efficient Honda engines. The harvesters have 3” serrated cutting teeth that cleanly cut the plants, reducing fragmentation. This cutting action protects the lake bed and keeps the water clean.

Why is mechanical harvesting (MH) the preferred choice of aquatic vegetation control?

Mechanical harvesting is very effective. It removes excess plants, slowing down or even reversing the aging of your waterway. While herbicides kill off extra plants, they leave behind nutrients that promote future growth of plants and algae. Mechanical harvesting is completely organic, making it safe for swimming and fishing. Some plants can become resistant to herbicides, which can lead to their spread due to less competition. For example, if Eurasian Milfoil takes over a water body, native plants disappear, resulting in poor water quality and fish kills when they die in the fall.
